Pets have always been an important part of the American family, but a recent survey by Rover.com suggests this is becoming even more true. Traditional doggie names like ucky and Fido have been replaced with Lucy and Max on the list of the most popular dog names this year.

In fact, 49% of the dogs in the survey had a "human name," up from 21% last year. And many of the names on the list overlapped with the year's top baby names. Max earned the top spot for male dogs and Bella was number one for females.

Pop culture also inspired many of the owners' choices, with the Hunger Games, Harry Potter and Star Wars-themed names gaining popularity. Chewbacca, anyone?
