Jet-setting isn't as glamorous as it used to be. Flying commercial is no longer a dress-your-best event; it's a means of transportation. Even if you opt to check into one of the various card-holder lounges and escape the gen pub, the drinks oftentimes are weak and the snacks (typically consisting of cracker assortments and apples) unsatisfying.

American Express's new fleet of Centurion Lounges are not in the same category as the aforementioned. Complimentary for Platinum Card and Centurion Members (plus their immediate family or up to two travel companions), here, burning off a layover or delayed flight time is, dare I say, enjoyable and relaxing. The lounge at LaGuardia Airport is the latest addition to the Centurion Lounge network, with others open at Dallas/Fort-Worth International Airport and Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, and more planned at San Francisco International Airport and Miami International Airport.

What sets this card-holder club apart from competitors? Complimentary food, drinks, and Wi-Fi (after all, this is what truly matters when traveling!). The menu consists of locally-inspired, seasonal cuisine designed by Cédric Vongerichten, Executive Chef at Perry St in New York City, named one of Zagat's top 30 up-and-coming chefs under 30. The alcoholic beverage menu features New York-inspired specialty cocktails and wine selections created by renowned mixologist Jim Meehan and wine director Anthony Giglio. The space also has connected work spaces with high speed Wi-Fi, outlets near every seat and private noise-buffering work spaces.
